Hi,
I am new to this and just need a bit of help. I am getting a touch for my birthday and have read about JailBreak etc. However I do not understand how you can install applications onto your iPod touch. I have seen videos installing Mail and things, but nothing to show how to install games onto the Touch.
Can someone point me to a tutorial on how to install games please?

Once you have your ipod jailbroken, you will have the "Installer". It is an application that allows you to add games and such. You just need to look sround the net for "Repositories" of games and other apps. Check ipodtouchfans.com

And finally, how do you actually use the installer? On a computer I would fiddle around and find out, but on an iPod ... Really I need to know whether you can download the game onto your computer and from there use Installer to import it onto the ipod. Thanks for all your help.

If you have WiFi, you'll be all set to go. It's actually pretty intuitive. When you jailbreak your ipod the Installer will be installed and from there all you have to do is select the game you want and it'll download and install in one painless process. Go on ipodtouchfans.com and read through one of the 1.1.4 jailbreaking tutorials and you'll be all set.

Ok. I think I understand now. I believe that you put a website link into installer, then select that in the menu and it will install from the internet, is the correct?
I guess I will have to persuade my parents to let me use WiFi. They are stingy about that sort of thing.
Do I need WiFi also to use SSH (sorry if acronym is wrong)?

Yes, you need WiFi to use the installer, but you can do it manually via SSH. I would NOT recommend using SSH because it's kind of a more convoluted process and you still need to have a wifi card in the computer to do it. You might as well just buy a cheap wifi router. You can probably find a decent one for $20. And you could probably find one at a garage sale for under $5.

If your laptop has wireless internet than your ipod can connect to the same network as your computer.
