Hello, I just bought a windows laptop and its pretty fast but the video card is crap. Theres 64 mb dedicated video ram (of course its shared) and it says that i can change it up to 799 mb. I can't figure out how to change it though. Do you know how?

I'm sorry, I wasn't really thinking. I thought you asked about a desktop... Laptops' graphics cards can't be replaced (99.99% of the time). They're usually integrated with the laptop. The only things you can upgrade on a typical laptop is the WiFi adapter, RAM, and hard drive... Sorry man. If you're looking to boost your laptop's performance, just load it up with a lot of RAM. But if you planned to play games on it, you're SOL.
Sorry....

Ok cool, i don't really need to play games cuz i can just head down to play my Nintendo wii. But have you heard of the asus XG station? Apparently its an external gpu.

I've never heard of it, but I looked it up and read up about it and it seems pretty neat. It should be upgradeable too. But there are a couple of draw backs: it hasn't been released yet, it'll probably be expensive, and it'll need an external monitor to output to.

well if i just replace my ram with much faster ram will that have an affect? Also about how much will that cost if i get two 1.5 gb sticks? I dont really know anything about ram so i don't know what is fast or not, i only know that when i bought it it said i can support up to 3 gb.

You can't buy 1.5 gb sticks, but you can buy 128mb, 256mb, 512mb, 1gb, 2gb, and 4gb sticks. It only supports up to 3gb, because thats all 32 bit systems can handle. Personally, I have 2gb in mine and it runs great, with Vista Home Premium and Aero fully running. I'd buy two 1gb sticks and install them in your laptop. Go to www.crucial.com and run the system scan to find out what kind of RAM you need.

Ok i did that but it didn't work so i manually entered the model and it said i need DDR2. I already have two gigabytes of ram but I'm not sure how fast it is. If i get faster ram will it help the video speed and quality? Also what is the difference between 32 bit system and 64 bit system?

32 bit and 64 bit are completely different systems within themselves. Read this article for more info. You can't buy faster RAM unless your computer supports faster RAM. Most computers support a couple of different speeds, but if you can run that test it should tell you which speeds your computer supports. Try installing the program and running it that way. P.S. You can probably only fit 2gb of RAM into it. Why do you need more RAM anyways?

i don't need more ram but i thought that faster ram would help games go a little faster. i'm not sure how fast it is but it supports up to DDRII5300 i think, at least thats what the scan said.

When you boot up your laptop go to your BIOS screen. By pressing F1 or something like that (It should say it somewhere on the screen). Then check the speed of your RAM, if it's already at 667mHz then you've already got the fastest RAM that your laptop is capable of handling.

hey i found out that my DRAM frequency is at 316.7mhz. If i got 667 mhz ram would it be worth the money and how much of an effect would that have on games and other programs?
Thanks

Errr, quite honestly, I'm kind of going out of my field of expertise. Download, and run this: www.cpuid.com/cpuz.phpUnder the 'Memory' tab there should be a thing under 'SPD' indicating "max bandwidth". Let me know what that says. I'm really sorry that it's taking so long to resolve your problem...

No problem about how long its taking theres not really a rush.
Ok, It said Max Bandwidth: PC2-5300 (333mhz).
